Treat tips: I toss about a teaspoon of plain yogurt in their bowls at feeding time every other day. I also give it to them as a frozen treat mixed with peanut butter or pureed plain pumpkin in a kong during the summer time. Many dog bakeries use yogurt as their “icing” on the cookies. You do not want to give them too much of this good thing!
If your dog is dehydrated and not drinking water (which could be signs of a serious health problem that warrants a vet visit,) you can try mixing a teaspoon of yogurt in a bowl with 8 ounces of water.
Make sure you find plain yogurt with active bacteria and no sugars or artificial sweeteners.
Some of benefits of feeding yogurt to your pup include:
- Curing an upset tummy (vomiting or diarrhea)
- Assistance with yeast infections
- Probiotic effects
- Immune system enhancer
- Intestinal health
